What is Suboxone?

Suboxone is a prescription medication approved by the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) to treat opioid use disorder (OUD). Suboxone contains two active ingredients: buprenorphine and naloxone. Buprenorphine is a pain reliever that binds to the same brain receptors as other potent opioids but with less intensity. This helps alleviate cravings and withdrawal symptoms while being less potent than other opioids.

Suboxone is used specifically to treat opioid dependence and is not effective for alcohol or benzodiazepine dependence.
